3 Dubai Airport workers took money and jewelry from passengers' bags. One was caught trying to leave the airport with stolen goods by a security officer.

They were convicted by the Dubai Criminal Court and sentenced to three months in prison. The thieves were also penalized Dh50,000, the equivalent of the stolen goods' worth. The employees will be deported from the UAE upon completion of their sentences. The Court of Appeals also upheld the sentence.

The airport security officer detected a high concentration of minerals and currency in a cleaner's bag while passing it through the staff inspection device, according to the police investigation. He discovered two pieces of jewelry, a ring, a golden necklace, and cash when he examined the bag of the maid (the first suspect).

The defendant confessed that he had agreed with the other defendants, two of his coworkers who worked within the airport, to help them smuggle out the stolen items, on the condition that the money would be divided equally.

The first defendant continued to agree with the others to position the stolen items in a specific location within the lavatory. Later, he would remove them from the airport and sell them at the market. The money would be split between them.

After the investigation, the other two defendants were arrested and confessed to their offenses.
