A head-on collision in Fujairah claimed the lives of two Emiratis

A head-on collision on Thursday killed two Emiratis in Fujairah, Local police in the Masafi region have determined that the accident occurred due to reckless overtaking on a one-way road.

"The collision resulted in the deaths of a young man, 19, and a woman, 28, who succumbed to their serious injuries," said Col Saleh Al Dhanhani, director of the traffic and patrols division of the Fujairah Police.

At around 7 a.m., police and national ambulance personnel were dispatched to the scene of the mishap.

Col. Al Dhanhani reported that the bodies of the deceased had been transported to the hospital and then released to their relatives.

To prevent accidents and save lives, he emphasised the importance of following all traffic laws and regulations, driving cautiously, being focused, avoiding distractions, showing consideration for other drivers, and not engaging in risky overtaking manoeuvres.

A woman from the United Arab Emirates was killed on the Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed road in Fujairah on March 18.

The 26-year-old driver lost control of the vehicle, which swerved, hit a tree, and then crashed into a house wall on Al Nakheel Road, according to police.
