The government of the United Arab Emirates has recently determined the dates for the beginning of the academic year in the Emirates for the following three academic years: the academic year 2023-2024, the academic year 2024-2025, and the academic year 2025-2026، In addition, the government has determined the dates for the end of the academic year and other dates related to the regularity of study in the country، These dates will take effect in the coming years.

Determine the dates for the beginning of the study and the mid-year vacation in the Emirates

The final step in the process was for the Council of Ministers to give its approval to the school calendar for the next three years. This calendar applies to all schools, public and private, regardless of whether they follow the curriculum of the Ministry of Education or a foreign curriculum. It ensures that schools will adhere to the start and end dates of each academic year, as well as the length of the summer vacation, which was also approved by the Council. A minimum of seven weeks to a maximum of eight weeks.

The calendar does not include private schools with distinct calendars, such as those that follow Indian, Bengali, Pakistani, or Japanese curricula, amongst others. These calendars are not included in the calendar.

The calendar mandated that all schools in the country, whether public or private, must adhere to a standard for the minimum number of schooling days, which was set at 182 days or the equal number of school hours. This was true independent of the educational programme that was being followed.

The academic calendar for the year 2023-2024 was established by the UAE Council of Ministers, and the calendar indicated that the beginning of the following academic year will take place on August 28, 2023.

The date that classes will begin for the school year 2024-2025 in the UAE

The academic calendar for the year 2024-2025 was established by the UAE Cabinet, which also determined that the first day of the academic year (2024/2025) will take place on August 26, 2024.

The academic calendar for the year 2025-2026 was established by the UAE Council of Ministers, and it was determined that the first day of the academic year (2025/2026) will be on August 25, 2025.

According to the dates listed for each of the three academic years on the calendar, the length of the winter break for public schools is indicated to be three weeks.

The length of the spring break for public schools in the UAE

While the schools themselves are obligated to take a break during the spring for a period of three weeks, according to the dates that are defined in the calendar, this commitment to an united conclusion for each of the three academic years emphasises the schools' commitment to a unified beginning.

The length of time that students attend their private schools during the winter break in the UAE

With reference to private schools, the duration of the winter break is from two to three weeks, provided that the winter vacation is according to the dates designated for each year.

The amount of time that students at private schools in the UAE get off for spring break

The UAE Cabinet determined that the duration of the spring break should be two or three weeks.

The amount of time that students in the Emirate of Sharjah get off for the spring break.

When the academic calendar for the next three years in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) for government and private schools was being drafted by the UAE Council of Ministers, it was indicated that it was necessary for private schools in the Emirate of Sharjah to adhere to only one week for the spring break instead of two weeks.

According to the calendar, the start of summer break for all private schools in the country should not occur earlier than June 28, 2024, for the following academic year; June 27, 2025, for the academic year after that; and June 26, 2026, for the academic year that will follow the 2025/2026 academic year.
