According to Oman Astronomical Society observatory chief Abdulwahab al Busaidy, the first day of Eid Al-Fitr is likely to be Saturday and the moon must be at least 12 hours old to be seen.

“The new moon will be born on Thursday, April 20 at 8.12 AM and the sun will set at 6.30 PM. The sun sets in nine hours. The moon will be visible for 21 minutes. Moonset is 6.51 PM. Al Busaidy informed the Oman Observer that elimination is 0.23% and inclination is four degrees.

Thus, the moon cannot be seen in 21 minutes. He continued, "Seeing the moon requires at least 12 hours."

Al Busaidy stated that based on current estimates and astronomical statistics, the moon will not be visible on Thursday evening, making Friday the last day of Ramadan.
