A Dubai driver was given a six-month prison term for hitting and killing a pedestrian with his vehicle، The Indian motorist, age 35, was found guilty of causing wrongful death, destroying property, and fleeing the scene of an accident by the Dubai Court of First Instance. They turned down the appeal.

Surveillance footage from the location where the accident occurred on July 26, 2017 allowed police to identify the man's vehicle and ultimately lead to his arrest.

A road inside Al Quoz Industrial Area 4 is where the accident took place.

The victim was crossing the street when he was hit by a car, as seen in surveillance footage.

"A patrol was dispatched to the scene after receiving a report from members of the public," the officer testified.

Video from a nearby surveillance camera clearly shows the victim being catapulted roughly five stories in the air after being hit by a car.

Officers discovered the side mirror, which had been knocked off the automobile during the collision, at the scene.

The defendant first rejected the claims in court, saying that he had heard a loud commotion and turned around because he thought he saw a bunch of individuals fighting in front of his car.

Later, he revealed that he was the one who hit the man and didn't report it for fear of the consequences.

The victim sustained severe head trauma and passed away the following day at Rashid Hospital; the driver was fined Dh10,000 ($2,700) and compelled to pay Dh200,000 in blood money to the victim's family.

According to a medical report presented to the court, the victim's life could not be spared due to the severity of his injuries, which included a fractured skull.

A year has been added to the driver's licence suspension effective the day the verdict was handed out.

The man will remain in prison until the blood money is paid, even though he has already served his six-month term.
