There will soon be updates to the Emirati ID card and the resident and identity card integrated form services, as announced by the Federal Authority for identification and Citizenship, Customs and Ports Security. These alterations will quickly become obvious. Everyone living in the United Arab Emirates is required to have a photo taken for a national ID card.

The Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, and Customs has stated that it would now grant and renew residence permits in addition to services related to Emirates ID cards. All application images supplied that do not conform to ICAO standards will also have their resolutions adjusted automatically.

All photographs used for determining identity, nationality, customs clearance, and port security must meet federally specified standards for clarity and detail. As a result, in its web policy guidelines, the government has established 10 standards. The photo should be no more than six months old, between 35 and 40 millimetres wide, with the subject's head and the top of their shoulder parallel to the camera lens so that 70 to 80% of the image is captured, with the subject's eyes level with the camera lens, with the subject's expression remaining the same, with high resolution (free of traces of ink or wrinkles), and with the eyes remaining sharply focused.

Standards for the method of capturing and illumination of the image in the Emirates ID card

She made a passing reference to the manner of capture and illumination needs to be met and underlined the importance of these five parameters to achieve good quality and clarity in the resulting images. The best portraits are taken when the subject's head and shoulder are at eye level with the camera.

The shot must have even lighting with no shadows or reflected flash light, which has a colour shift and makes people's eyes look red. The photo's background should be transparent and bright so that the subject stands out against a neutral backdrop.

She stressed the importance of avoiding bulky frames and coloured lenses when photographing people who wear glasses, as doing so can negatively affect image quality. She also noted that it is important to capture a clear and high-resolution image of the subject's eyes. With a determination to wear glasses, the frames should be thin and the lenses should not obscure the wearer's sight.

All facial features, from the centre of the chin to the top of the forehead, as well as both sides of the face, must be clearly visible in every photograph submitted for publication. Additionally, the subject's eyes must be open, the mouth closed, and the head and gaze parallel to the camera lens.

As part of the transition to the next generation of identity cards and passports, the authority has begun, in the first phase, to issue the upgraded version of the national identity card.

The new identity card in emirates

There are five new benefits to the updated ID card, including lower overhead and the elimination of the need to physically carry or print the card or its accompanying documents; the ability to electronically link them to individuals' biometrics; electronic reading of the documents via a "QR" feature; and improved ease of access. Protected from tampering thanks to multiple layers of authentication and tamper-proof design.

With the "QR code" feature added to read it electronically, and make it valid for the authorities, citizens and residents can access the website, view the existing documents, and then send electronic copies of the ID in terms of the data contained therein to the other concerned authorities. concerned.

Inputting the customer's document portfolio into the smart application generates an electronic copy that can be scanned using QR Code technology for instant card reading.

The information displayed on the card is derived from the relevant authority's database and used to define the card in its electronic version. If the printed card is lost or stolen, service providers can more easily verify the validity of the issued card through this method.

There are 5 main improvements to the new ID card

1- Better security for invisible information

The ICA enables data reading via the E-link technology.

2- Superior card with extended durability

The polycarbonate material used to create the card extends its useful life to more than a decade.

3- 3D image compilation

Date of birth information will be used to verify the laser printing feature.

4- Characteristics of High-Tech Development

A larger storage capacity and the ability to read data without touching the card are being built into the chip.

5- The Determination of New Fields and Codes

The new details include occupational information, issuing body, and demographic breakdown.
