Standards for the method of capturing and illumination of the image in the Emirates ID card

She made a passing reference to the manner of capture and illumination needs to be met and underlined the importance of these five parameters to achieve good quality and clarity in the resulting images. She stressed the importance of avoiding bulky frames and coloured lenses when photographing people who wear glasses, as doing so can negatively affect image quality. She also noted that it is important to capture a clear and high-resolution image of the subject's eyes. With a determination to wear glasses, the frames should be thin and the lenses should not obscure the wearer's sight.

All facial features, from the centre of the chin to the top of the forehead, as well as both sides of the face, must be clearly visible in every photograph submitted for publication. Additionally, the subject's eyes must be open, the mouth closed, and the head and gaze parallel to the camera lens.
