Can I submit a request to be excluded from the fines associated with my Emirates ID?
In the event that they were unable to renew their Emirates ID or obtain a new one within the allotted amount of time, holders of Emirates IDs have the option to submit a request to the ICP to have any associated fines removed. However, in order to be qualified to submit an exemption request, applicants need to satisfy the following conditions:
The resident must have lived outside the UAE for more than three months, or the resident's residency must have expired while they were living outside the UAE, or the resident's ID card validity must have expired after they left the UAE; the resident must present a travel document to confirm that this is the case.
- If the person's identification card's validity expired while they were travelling abroad because of an executive or judicial decree, or if their passport is being held as a result of a case or because it is being renewed, they are required to provide an official letter from the relevant authorities.
- A person who is bedridden or who is suffering from a contagious disease or who has a partial or full impairment is required to present a medical certificate that has been issued by medical authorities.
- The personnel of diplomatic or consular missions currently stationed in the country, as well as the individuals entrusted to their care.
- Senior citizens who are above the age of 70 and are unable to physically attend a customer service centre; these individuals are required to provide a birth certificate or passport to verify their age.
- Delays in the registration or issue of an ID card as a result of problems in the documentation, or as a result of Emirates ID's systems, or as a result of one of Emirates ID's staff members, or as a result of typing offices allocated by Emirates ID.
