The UAE's job market grew significantly in the first quarter of 2023, defying global trends. Head offices, in particular, have seen a surge, with an outstanding 20% growth in vacant positions in certain areas.

Dubai's economy booming with job market growth

According to recruiters, Dubai's economy is still booming, and the drive is expected to continue. This, according to headhunters, has been fueled by new projects and initiatives that have been planned.

As Aws Ismail, general manager at Marc Ellis stated "We have seen a very positive increase, an average of about 20% in the UAE recruitment and job market for 2023, specifically in the technology sector" .

He also added, We think that the upbeat market outlook and the increase in foreign investment, which has represented the commitment of many companies to establish and grow their presence in the Emirates and continue their digitalization journey in accordance with the UAE government, have been the main drivers of this rise. The recruitment industry was unavoidably impacted by the myriad global uncertainties that characterised last year. But based on the growth so far, we believe that the trend will continue through 2023.

"In terms of industry, we are specialised in technology recruitment and believe it has been one of the strongest in growth, with a focus on skill sets within artificial intelligence, machine learning, and digital transformation, which we have seen a significant demand for in finding the right talent in various roles by our clients," he continued.

UAE Job Market Surges

In accordance with recent research by global recruiting agency Robert Walters, the banking and financial services sector has enjoyed significant growth, with job vacancies increasing compared to the same period in 2022.

Moreover, the IT industry has seen a significant 20% increase in job openings, closely followed by the HR sector, which has experienced a reasonable 10% increase.

"A stronger hiring trend has been observed in the UAE, with salary increases for skilled professionals beginning this year," said Nadeem Ahmed, HR Manager at Hidayath. According to the Hays 2023 GCC Salary Guide, the UAE's technology sector was the most active in terms of hiring last year, with 77% of firms growing their head count."
