UAE offers foreigners 10 residency options starting today
The Executive Regulations of the Law on the Entry and Residence of Aliens specified eight types of visas for temporary visit that may be granted to foreigners to enter the country, whether for one trip or for several trips, and may be extended for a similar period or periods.

8 types of visit visas
The Executive Regulations of the Law on the Entry and Residence of Aliens specified eight types of visas for temporary visit that may be granted to foreigners to enter the country, whether for one trip or for several trips, and may be extended for a similar period or periods.
Visas are categorized by the purpose of the visit, namely: tourism, visiting a relative or friend, a job assignment, exploring job opportunities, exploring business, treatment, study, training or qualification, and courtesy visa.
These visas are granted by the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Port Security, and after the approval of the competent authorities. By a decision of the Chairman of the Authority or his delegate may issue a visit visa for other purposes not mentioned, provided that the seriousness of the purpose of coming to the country is verified.
10 residency options between 2 and 10 years renewable
The updated visa system, announced by the Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship, Customs and Port Security, comes into force today, providing foreigners with 10 renewable residency options ranging from two to 10 years, namely golden residence, green residence, virtual residence, retirees residence, work residence, study residence, and residence of the landlord.
It also issues a residence permit for family members of a foreigner residing in the country, a residence permit for the wives and children of citizens of the Gulf Cooperation Council countries, who hold foreign passports, in addition to a residence permit for humanitarian cases organized by a decision of the Chairman of the Authority.
