The Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs began issuing electronic visas on Thursday, Starting with seven nations, e-visas will replace visa labels on passports and allow visitors' data to be retrieved via a QR Code. This endeavour is part of an overall initiative to automate and improve the quality of consular services.

Using cutting-edge technology, the ministry hopes to create a visa-issuing mechanism that includes work permits, residence permits, and visit visas. Electronic visas will now be issued by Indonesia and the Philippines.

It declared last year that tourists might use the e-visa services form on its website to apply for a "personal visit" visa to visit friends who are Saudi citizens.

Visa terms and conditions

The visa is valid for 90 days and allows travellers to travel across the kingdom, including performing Umrah and praying in the two holy cities.

Moreover , Saudi Arabia intends to create 315,000 new hotel rooms by 2030, with an estimated development cost of $37.8 billion, as part of its ongoing efforts to diversify its economy away from oil.

The projected additions would bring the overall number of hotel rooms to around 450,000, with projects like the futuristic city of Neom leading the way.
