UAE announces 12 paid official holidays For public and private workers for the current year 2024

The United Arab Emirates announced official and paid holidays for the current year 2024, as 12 official paid holidays remain for workers in the public and private sectors, in addition to the previous official holiday, which is the New Year’s holiday.

Official holidays in the UAE

According to the list of official holidays approved by the UAE Cabinet for the current year 2024, which included holidays for the public and private sectors, which are paid holidays.

Thus, the total amount of paid leave in the UAE reaches 13 days of official leave, for workers in the private and public sectors, and these leaves are listed on the official website of the UAE Digital Government.

List of remaining public holidays in the UAE for the year 2024

These leaves include the government and private sectors, and are as follows:

  • Eid al-Fitr holiday: from 29 Ramadan to 3 Shawwal 1445 AH for 4 days.
  • Arafa and Eid al-Adha pause, from 9-12 Dhu al-Hijjah 1445 AH for 4 days.
  • Hijri New Year holiday, which falls on Muharram 1, 1446, for one day.
  • The Prophet’s birthday falls on Rabi’ al-Awwal 12, 1446 AH for one day.
  • National Day holiday, December 2-3, 2024, for two days.

It is noteworthy that the official holidays in the UAE regarding Islamic occasions depend on the sighting of the crescent moon, and the Gregorian dates for the actual timing of these holidays may differ according to the sighting of the crescent moon, while the timing for national occasions is fixed and does not change.

Official holidays in the UAE for the current year 2024

Many UAE residents are curious about the dates of official holidays and feasts, and the most famous is Eid al-Fitr 2024, when Muslims celebrate the fasting and resurrection of Ramadan and exchange gifts and visit family.

Abu Dhabi celebrates Eid al-Fitr with fireworks and special offers. Family-packed amusement parks, restaurants, and other celebrations are also common. Emirates Eid begins on Ramadan 29 and ends on Shawwal 3. From April 8, 1445 AH, to April 11, 2024.
