Employers in the UAE are required to pay domestic employees' salary electronically

The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation strongly advises businesses to pay their domestic employees' salaries online using Ministry-approved banks, exchange firms, and other financial organisations.

Businesses gain greatly from having domestic employees registered with the wage protection system. The government has identified a variety of advantages for businesses who choose to participate in the wage protection plan.

First, he can protect his reputation by documenting the procedures he took to pay the worker's wages. Second, he can help the worker receive his or her salary. Third, he can make certain that the employee gets paid on time. Fourth, in accordance with the contract, he can maintain the status quo between the employer and the maid.

Dr. Abdulrahman bin Abdulmanir Al-Awar was joined by many ministry heads and hundreds of employees for an iftar sponsored by the Beit Al-Khair Association in the Al-Rawashed Mosque in Dubai's Al-Khawaneej area.

"Workers deserve our full appreciation and respect for their contribution to the development process in the UAE," Al-Awar said, adding that "the holy month of Ramadan is an ideal opportunity to meet with them to listen to their observations, opinions, and benefit from their labour market experiences."

During the holy month of Ramadan, UAE has lowered working hours by two hours every day

During the holy month of Ramadan, normal working hours are shortened by two hours per day for all private sector workers in the country, and it is permissible for establishments to apply flexible work patterns or remote work, within the limits of the daily working hours specified during the days of Ramadan, depending on the interest and nature of their work.

Three Exceptions

The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation confirmed that three exceptions to the five "mandatory" categories of domestic workers were identified in Ministerial Resolution No. (675) of 2022 concerning the payment of wages for some domestic service workers' professions through the wage protection system.

  • First, if the domestic worker does not work for the employer and has a labour complaint pending in court.
  • Second, if the employee who is aiding you cannot call in sick without permission. The final scenario involves the first 30 days of the newly hired domestic worker's contract.
