Expo City Dubai gave guests their first glimpse at two new house complexes that would promote sustainable living when they open their doors later this week. The developments are located within the city.
Before the launch of a sales centre in the Sustainability District on Wednesday, striking images of Expo Central's Mangroves Residences and Expo Valley were revealed. The renderings may be found in the Sustainability District.
The big residential developments are the driving force behind the transformation of the vast site of the world's fair into a bustling neighbourhood that will include flats, townhouses, and villas, as well as children's playgrounds, cycling and jogging tracks spanning a combined 10 kilometres and five kilometres, and parks and gardens covering 45,000 square metres.
The districts of Expo City Dubai are car-free zones and plastics-free zones as well. Because of the design, eighty percent of the ancient infrastructure, which includes 123 buildings, has been preserved.
To date, over a third of the 4.38 square kilometres of land at the site has been developed into buildings.
This coming week should see the release of additional information regarding the development.
Inside Expo Valley and Mangrove Residences
The leaders of Expo have stated that homes in Expo Valley will have a view of a nature reserve, lake, or wadi.
The neighbourhood will have eco-friendly and environmentally conscious villas and townhouses, as well as car-free streets, bicycle trails, clubhouses, and courtyards with landscaping.
The environmentally friendly and urban Mangrove Residences at Expo Central will showcase expansive views of the Expo City skyline and will emphasise urban sustainability.
Its purpose is to promote what is called a "eco-friendly lifestyle" and will have retail shops as well as food and beverage establishments.
According to Ahmed Al Khatib, chief development and delivery officer, the city "will serve as a blueprint for the way we live in the future — a best-in-class example of sustainable, regenerative, connected community living"
Expo Village is the only residential option now available in the region. It consists of 2,273 apartments spread across 15 towers and can house approximately 3,500 people.
The Dubai World Trade Centre is the owner as well as the manager of the development.
Expo 2020 made the announcement of their plans to turn the legacy site into the country's first "15-minute city" before the end of the world's fair last year. This means that it will be possible to walk or cycle from end to end without the need for a car.
Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, Vice President and Ruler of Dubai, outlined his vision for the legacy site in June, saying that it would become a "hub of economic activity" and be home to important firms and their offices. He also stated that he wanted it to be the location of the World Expo 2020.
It will be a destination in its own right, he said, with a focus on technology and the environment, and it will be served by the neighbouring Dubai World Central airport as well as the metro link to the city centre.
October marked the beginning of the city's process of gradually reopening, and during this time, many of its most popular landmarks, such as the Al Wasl Dome, the Garden in the Sky observation tower, and the Expo waterfall, remained closed.
Additionally, it reopened Alif, the Mobility Pavilion, Terra, the Sustainability Pavilion, as well as the Vision and Women's pavilions, each of which may be accessed by guests with a day pass that costs Dh120.
Additionally, companies have started moving their operations to Expo City. Siemens, DP World, and Terminus Technologies, which is based in China, have all opened offices in the district of Dubai South, which is also home to start-ups and other types of technological businesses.
The Dubai Exhibition Centre is located right next to a metro station, and it serves as a site for significant events such as international trade fairs.
It recently hosted PopCon Middle East and GameExpo in Dubai, and later this year, as part of Dubai's hosting of the Cop28 Climate Change conference, it will be a part of the event.
