After uncovering a number of breaches in compliance on the part of the two healthcare facilities, the Department of Health – Abu Dhabi (DoH), which serves as the supervisor of the medical industry in the emirate, has made the decision to temporarily close both the healthcare centre and the health complex.
These infractions include the use of materials and tools that have passed their expiration date, the failure to comply with the norms and rules for the disposal of medical waste and the storage of blood units, and the failure to adhere to safety protocols and methods for the prevention of infection.

In addition, the infractions included a failure to comply with the engineering and technical layout of the facility's design, which had been approved by the Department of Health, as well as a failure on the part of members of the medical staff to administer the vaccines that were ordered.

The Department stated that its Inspection and Control team would undertake future visits to these institutions, to ensure that the correctional processes are being applied in the right manner.
