This week marks the debut of Expo City Dubai's brand-new residential offerings.

Two new sustainable home developments have been shown at Expo City Dubai ahead of their official launches this week.

Expo Central's Mangroves Residences and Expo Valley have been depicted in striking detail in advance of Wednesday's opening of a sales facility in the Sustainability District.

Apartments, townhomes, and villas, as well as 10 kilometres of bike paths, 5 kilometres of running paths, children's playgrounds, and 45,000 square metres of parks and gardens, will populate the vast former site of the world's fair thanks to the massive residential developments.

In the areas that make up Expo City Dubai, you won't find any cars or disposable plastics. Eighty percent of the original infrastructure, or 123 structures, have been preserved thanks to the design.

Only about 1.58 km2 of the total 4.38 km2 site is currently occupied by buildings.

This week, we should hear more specifics on the new development.
The Mangrove Neighbourhood and Expo Valley's Interior

Expo officials have stated that homes in Expo Valley will have views of a wadi, lake, and nature reserve.

Car-free lanes, bicycle trails, clubhouses, and landscaped courtyards will all be part of the plan for this region, which will also contain eco-friendly, high-tech homes and townhouses.

The Mangrove Residences at Expo Central will offer eco-friendly city living with a view of the Expo City skyline.

As a shopping and dining destination, it will encourage a "eco-friendly lifestyle" through its offerings.

The city will be "a best-in-class example of sustainable, regenerative, connected community living," as described by Ahmed Al Khatib, the city's chief development and delivery officer.

Expo Village, the only present option for inhabitants, contains 2,273 apartments spread across 15 towers and can house around 3,500 people.

Dubai World Trade Centre owns and operates the complex.
Leaving a legacy

Plans to turn the legacy site of the previous year's world's fair into the first "15-minute city" in the country were announced before to the fair's closure, implying that residents will be able to get around on foot or by bike without ever having to get in a car.

The Vice President and Ruler of Dubai, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, laid out his plans for the site in June, claiming it would become a "hub of economic activity" and the location for the headquarters of large corporations.

He said that the area, which will have a focus on technology and the environment, would become a tourist hotspot thanks to its proximity to both the Dubai World Central airport and the city's metro system.

Key attractions such as the Al Wasl Dome, the Garden in the Sky observation tower, and the Expo waterfall remained open as the city began to reopen in stages in the month of October.

The Vision and Women's pavilions, as well as the Mobility and Sustainability pavilions, are now open to the public for Dh120 per day.

Companies are also beginning to set up shop in Expo City. Companies including Siemens, DP World, and the Chinese firm Terminus Technologies have all set up shop in the Dubai South area.

The Dubai Exhibition Centre, home to important events like international trade fairs, is conveniently located just next to the station.

It was recently part of Dubai's hosting of PopCon Middle East and GameExpo, and it will be part of the emirate's hosting of the Cop28 Climate Change conference later this year.
